A meditation on linen, low light, and the architecture of rest — how to compose a bedroom that quiets the nervous system.
A bedroom is a room with a single job: to lower your shoulders the moment you step inside. Everything else — the styling, the layering, the lamp on the nightstand — exists in service of that one quiet promise.
Begin with the bed, low and generous. Belgian flax linen in oat or fog. A heavier washed quilt at the foot. Two pillows you will actually sleep on, two you will move each morning.
Light should arrive in layers — a plaster table lamp at the bedside, a warm bulb on a dimmer, blackout linen at the window. Avoid overhead light after sundown.
Keep the floor visible. A wool rug that runs past the bed on three sides, a single bench at the foot, and nothing else. The room will feel twice its size.
